Safety Pin

As-salamu alaikum

Bismillah

I'm pretty sure everyone has ruined a favorite scarf with a regular safety pin right?

What to do?!?

I live in a pretty small town so we don't get those fancy "no snag hijab pins" down here, so I decided to get industrious!

This is what I do to save my hijabs from the safety pin monster.

I use a piece of thick fabric to act as a buffer between the safety pin and the cloth of my scarf :-D

What do you guys do to avoid snags?

There are quite a few places I can get hijab pins here, so I have them all over the house :-) Oh, and a couple in the car too.
Your fabric idea is genius though.

Email me your address, and I can send you some pins if you like.

Khayr inshaAllah :-)

Asalamu alaikum, Good idea! You can also add beads like get a whole bunch from a craft store n add them to each side of the pin so it won't snag. There is a vid on YouTube that shows how to do it.( using cell phone or I would post the link if you can't find it let me know n inshallah will post it when get in front of a computer)

Ohhh!!!

I've managed to ruin a couple of scarves so far on my short journey. Thanks so much for the two ideas!!! I thought of using earring backings (the rubber ones) on each end, but I always forget.

Oh that always happens to me. I haven't even done anything about it except pray that it doesn't happen every time I pin my hijab :P

Salam NeverEver,

Oh it has been ages since I last commented out here, sis.

Lots to read, well about the pin story, rather use this instead, and your scarf will be on the safe side!

Hair slides does the trick!

Here in SA we all use this for our shaylas, once wrapped around, and it really stays quite well in place.

Run and get some of the pretty ones.

LOVE YA

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmathullahi wa Barakaathuhu.

Masha Allah, good idea sis..I have thought of securing with hair slides, but I don't like it when it gets loose.

So...my ultimate decision was to wear a khimar! loose and free and no worries about the shaylah flying at your face, revealing your bust and/or neck!

Wassalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmathullahi wa Barakaathuhu.

P.S: Nice blog :)
