How to Hijab: Step 1/7

Salam!

Bismillah

For step one toward hijabness... (THIS IS NOT HIJAB, JUST A STEP IN A MORE MODEST DIRECTION INSHAALLAH)

ADD SLEEVES

The first thing to do is to get yourself use to wearing something that covers all of your body. It is an adjustment for the way your body cools and heats itself so it is good to get this step going while it is still cool/cold outside! This way you don't feel overheated when you first start covering all parts of yourself.

Also at this point, you can start wearing looser t-shirts and cardigans (instead of just sleeves under a t-shirt).
Best place for cheap, loose t-shirts? Brother/Uncle/Dad's closet! I'm telling you, your dad probably has some really sweet t-shirts from the 70s/80s. Go look for 'em!

Yup, this is exactly how I started out. :)

this series seems like it would be helpful. I remember I tried to jump in 100% all at once. Makes much more sense to do things gradually.

Yeah it's better to make baby steps than to jump in and get burned out or to just sit in one spot not making any progress because you don't feel like you can go "all the way."

Sometimes I still find sleeves annoying when its really hot out. Definitely a good 1st step.

Cute look and a good start for a new Muslim or someone wanting to dress more modestly! :)

Stacy: Yeah, that is why I found it best to start in the winter, that way your body has a long period of time to adjust to cooling itself off this way. This is also why loose long sleeves are better. They allow more air flow! (and are more modest, lol)

Candice: inshaAllah :-)hope you like the rest! :-D
