Not surprising when we are spending time with folks who do not share the same values. It's our opportunity to make a *choice* to hold to what is most important to us and think about that. The loneliness is a reminder we can be thankful for.
Do dhikr when you feel down, Al-Baqarah 2:152 فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِي وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.
Al-Ahzab 33:41 يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيرًا O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: "He who remembers his Lord and he who does not remember his Lord are like the living and the dead." - Al-Bukhari, cf., Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/208; Muslim 1/539 with the wording "The house in which Allah is remembered and the house in which Allah is not remembered is like the living and the dead."
"Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allah, will receive one Hasanah (reward for a good deed), and one Hasanah comes with ten like it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter. Indeed Alif is a letter, and Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." - At-Tirmithi 5/175. See Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmithi 3/9 and Sahihul-Jami' As-Saghir 5/340.
InshaAllah your feelings of sadness and loneliness will go away. Do you tend to feel sad and lonely when the seasons change (could be SAD-seasonal affective disorder, depression that comes with the change of seasons). Praying and making dua is good but its also good to talk about your feelings (maybe with a friend or counselor).
feeling lonely and left out is nothing new to me :) but think of the good things to come and the good things you have achieved along the way,:) hope you feel better soon :)
Sorry you're feeling so alone sis :-( Are there some friends you could start planning Ramadan gatherings with? Maybe you could do something very low-key and invite some non-Muslim friends and family to introduce them to your faith.
Just keep your eyes and heart focused on the Creator and this will all pass. Sabr InshaAllah.
Have you spent much time with your Saudi friends lately?
caraboska: alhamdulillah you are really right. thanks for saying it that way it was really helpful jazakillah khair
Tuttie: jazakillah tuttie :-)
kakchik: ameen inshaAllah, jazakillah khair
Rene: I'm not sure if I noticed a change in the season. I think it happened after my family moved into a new house with my brother and everyone living there. I guess I feel like I just don't fit in with my family.
Charisms: thanks :-) hopefully it will pass soon
Peanutts: inshaAllah thanks a lot
Stacy: inshaAllah, i'm trying to make plans to spend more time with friends/people who share my religion/values. A lot of the people from my masjid are out of town for the summer since most are students here at our university. basically I have just been with my family a bunch and just stuck in the house and stuff. i got out some today with a friend from the masjid and alhamdulillah it was better :-)
