Salam!
Bismillah
I am not motivated to go to school. I am not motivated to do my homework. I am not motivated to study for quizzes and tests.
I am tired all of the time. I can't fall asleep when I need to and when I finally fall asleep, I can't wake up again.
Sometimes I think about sad stuff over and over and over for no apparent reason. I just can't quit. I cry too much and it hurts the people around me.
What is wrong with me? What should I do?

Salam sis
i'm sorry to hear your feeling so down. really though it happens to the best of us. don't be so hard on yourself. when you're feeling sad, try to talk to someone, perhaps a family member. sometimes it really helps to talk it out to figure out why you are feeling this way. you will get through whatever it is that you are going through b'ithniLLAh. i will keep you in my Du3a Insha'Allah. May Allah grant you 6abr sis.
You just need some people to talk to and help you analyze what's going on. I've felt like that a lot at times too. Right now I feel like I don't get much done than the day to day stuff with Layla and Dave and feel bad that I can't give more time to developing and keeping friendships.
Is there something that is making you think too much so that you don't sleep at night?
Fell free to drop me a line if you want.
My email is on my profile.
Salaams :)
Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, we all have those days. Try to figure out what's causing you to feel depressed. Has anything been bothering you lately in life?
I get discourage SO very often to skip classes, or call off work.
Try to look at the big picture whenever you feel lazy. I just imagine me working as a nurse and have a good stable job.
Take some time to relax, exercising even helps, read Quran (that helps me) I hope you feel better. You will definately been in my duas.
I'm on the exact same boat sister. I hate hearing about people being sad, it's a hard thing, especially when you have no one to speak to. Just want you to know that I'm here for you sister, feel free to speak to me whenever you need to :) <3 <3 <3
Dude, this is the story of my life now. I have zero motivation to do any schoolwork or studying. One thing that helped was my best friend telling me that we should make an intention to learn as much as we can for the sake of ALLAH swt. ALLAH made such an amazing universe, and Muhammad (saw) said that it is our duty to learn about it.
As for your depression, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down. I have obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and depression is a common symptom of it. It can be very difficult to deal with. Du'a always helps. It gives me a chance to have an intimate, One-on-one chat with ALLAH, and it helps me refocus. Two of ALLAH's Beautiful Names are translated to the Protecting Friend and the Loving, which gives me a lot of comfort. ALLAH *wants* to hear from us, and since He is closer to us than anyone else He is always there to listen, comfort, and guide.
You know my email address...Insha'Allah drop a line if you want. :)
Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu.
"And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'un [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)]. Your learning about Islam and loving it. check out my article. then Help me share Islam to the world. link my article to your blog. may Allah guide you.
I think you need to pray istikhara and analyze what is going on in your life that is causing those feelings.
I experience a similar stage in my life maybe 2-3 months in to me being Muslim. As with any drastic changes in our lives we need time to adjust and find our way. When I became Muslim I lost all the friends that mattered to me and my job. I was severely depressed and started making duah to Allah swt.
Whenever you are sad just make dhikr or pray extra prayers.
I just added some duas for dealing iwth distress, anxiety and sorrow. You can check them out here

Salaam sis,
this is probably a super delayed reply, but i just read this post...and it kinda hit home, so i thought that i better write.
when i first started my postgrad studies, i had all the things ur going through now...tiredness that never ends, lack of motivation to study/do assignments etc...and jut dreading to wake up to go to school. i guess the only thing stopping me fom quitting school was that i was under a scholarship which i didn't think would allow 'breaks'...plus i was like, what if this happens next time anyways? so to cut the story short, i just blocked negative thoughts and soldiered on..but it was tough :(
anyways, that was a brief summary of my situation. everyone deals with things differently, so i'm sure with some thought, whatever decision you make is the best for you :) just my 2 cents, and all the best to your future inshaAllah.
