I was sort of split on whether I should do this as one huge post or break it up because I really start talking about the requirements of hijab in later posts (like 5,6,7). Maybe I should be a bit more clear that these early sets represent positive change toward a more modest look and are definitely not hijab.

I figured I would split it since it is sort of a history of how it worked out for me, while also being kind of a guide. Maybe I should call it "how I hijabed"? lol

In fact, I don't add a khimar until step 6 of 7 as the loosening of the clothes to me is way more important to do first.

Don't worry Rene I know you say everything from love and I recognize gentle naseeha when I see it :-D Let me know what you think of my ideas inshaAllahNeverEverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16822581407125914036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8916496082753910970.post-91846345581030044362010-11-16T11:05:21.648-06:002010-11-16T11:05:21.648-06:00Salaam Alaikum!

Instead, I wore what my friends were wearing and thought it was pro`per hijab (e.g. jeans, long shirt and hijab, etc). I wonder if instead of having sisters transition to proper hijab (e.g. loose outer garment over their clothing to conceal their shape, which jeans, loose pants, long shirts all show ones shape) it would be better to teach converts from the start what proper hijab is? Same goes for born muslims. Dawah should be made to the sisters at a young age (Grade school).
I know some sisters will say its easier to transition from jeans to abayah, however we must remember that "hijab" is not just a headscarf and when we pair it with form fitting clothes or even long shirts and pants which reveal our shape we are teaching non muslims and other muslims that this is what hijab is. My parents used to ask me why I dont wear tank tops with my hijab or cropped pants because they had seen a few sisters at the mall wearing such outfits with their hijab and didnt understand why I didnt dress that way...
Anyway, you know I love you for the sake of Allah so please dont look as this as criticism.
Eid Mubarak! =)Rene´s Bare Essentialshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16308212836561045324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8916496082753910970.post-67521894075077770832010-11-16T00:49:55.111-06:002010-11-16T00:49:55.111-06:00Eid Mubarak!!
