"that could be me!" lol that is why I think this situation is pretty common for Christian converts/reverts.NeverEverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16822581407125914036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8916496082753910970.post-18579303168164375812009-05-06T11:12:00.000-05:002009-05-06T11:12:00.000-05:00This could literally be my story! I was in a very ...This could literally be my story! I was in a very similar situation, although I did have a pretty extensive knowledge of the Bible before, because I went to a Christian university (Baylor) and had taken several religious classes. Once I learned more about Islam, though, I really took it up a notch and started reading and reading and reading all the time!
I think that the New Testament in itself has plenty of contradictions, to be honest. The primary one is that, in the Gospels, Jesus calls people to do good works, and talks about the difficulty of getting into heaven. However, according to Paul, all you need to do is accept Christ as your "personal savior" and you're home free. Hm....something obviously isn't right!
I think this blog is SUCH a good idea. :-) Thank you so much for writing it!Goldelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14330570057854993551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8916496082753910970.post-48515979343127971892009-05-05T22:55:00.000-05:002009-05-05T22:55:00.000-05:00You bring up a LOT of good points and things that ...You bring up a LOT of good points and things that need some explanation from the Bible. I think that some of them can be resolved by looking at the Greek and Hebrew and the context, but I too never got much out of Christian theology. I love the Bible and still study it, but theology makes it hard for me to appreciate the simple parts of it. The Quran is also hard for me to understand in parts, and I also know very little Arabic to help put it together. Just like the Bible though, I've read things where people pull out a lot of things from the Quran that are supposed contradictions. I feel like I could take a lifetime figuring it out. I'm still at the point where I just read and study and feel like God will understand where my heart is. Keep posting though and I'll let you know if I have any thoughts that might help even though we're kind of in the same place at this point.
Blessings!Stacy K. https://www.blogger.com/profile/06853574441003653244noreply@blogger.com
